We solve business problems. That’s the name of the game. Of course, the true magic comes in listening and understanding your business. Below are a few case studies that really help tell the brand stories.
South Carolina Federal Credit Union*
PROBLEM: How does one of Charleston's oldest banks celebrate its 60th birthday?
SOLUTION: Well, the bank has been around 60 years, so they know a thing or two about the Charleston, SC, area. What did we do? We personified the brand, gave it a new voice and, basically, just had fun. The big idea: 60 Pearls of Wisdom. Via outdoor, in-store signage, print and pushed out content through social, e-mails, web and online banners, we spent the year dropping short and sweet pearls. Charleston and the surrounding area began to look at South Carolina Federal Credit Union in a different way. We gave it a personality, while strategically telling our audience what we're really all about. In the end, it brought a new base to the brand and livened up a storied institution.
PROBLEM: A family-owned appliance dealer with more than 40 years in the business, they needed a brand upgrade and a digital awareness campaign.
SOLUTION: The truth is Haywood Appliance caters to high-end customers, as well as local builders. We needed to not only get the word out, but establish a brand voice and dialogue with customers and potential customers. First, we solidifed a single logo. Previously, there were different logos on different stores, trucks and forms. Next, we started sending out a bi-monthly e-newsletter with curated articles that caught Haywood Appliance's customer's eye. These articles included everything from Garden & Gun magazine links to tips on buying the best wine storage units. Google ads began direct traffic to focused landing pages, instead of a shotgun approach. Last, we began establishing and growing an audience on Instagram and Facebook with behind the scenes look at Haywood Appliance. So far, Haywood Appliance is having their strongest year to date.

PROBLEM: The keymen are the foundation of Terminix's business. They develop the relationships and trust with the consumers. And they have amazing stories. So, how do we tell these stories without sounding like a typical testimonial?
SOLUTION: We give these stories the dramatic flair they deserve and make people want to watch. Partnering with a production company out of Atlanta, we developed content that told the story in an interesting and eye catching way. We wrote the script, recorded the voice and let our partners work their magic. What we got was something you can't help but click on social media. In fact, the response was so overwhelming we kept going and produced several videos. In the end, the videos helped underscore what Terminix's keymen do on a regular basis, while showing Terminix as a brand that has a sense of humor. Check them out here.
UPDATE: These videos were recently awarded a 2018 Telly Award (bronze) in the Business to Consumer category. They’re also the strong social posts to date.
Jackson County Tourism*
PROBLEM: In the shadow of Asheville, NC, Jackson County needed a brand to ignite tourism. We inherited a tagline, and had to fit that into a new brand.
SOLUTION: Jackson County is your great escape.
People are looking for a quick escape from their everyday lives. They want a place that’s real and true and full of great things to do. And Jackson County is the perfect spot. The county offers outdoor adventure with a small town feel. So, we came up for a few days, canvased the county and did everything and talked to everyone we possibly could. The concept revolves around the simple idea that Jackson County gives you the freedom to get outdoors and access everything the county has to offer. One caveat. We had to use the existing tagline - Play On. So, we developed a branded message that didn't revolve around Play On, but still managed to add value. From epic single track and fly fishing trails to small town shops and local breweries, Jackson County is one big package of adventure. No matter what your idea of adventure is. All you have to do is jump right in. It’s all here, so come ready to Play On. And people did. Occupancy tax collections were up 37% since launch, while website traffic is up 1,023%.

Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce
PROBLEM: Charleston, South Carolina, is home to the nation's oldest chamber of commerce. Today, the Chamber is a large, dedicated team of really smart people developing programs and finding solutions for talent, advocacy and leadership. However, they were talking to small business owners the same way they were talking to state legislators.
SOLUTION: We stepped in and assessed all their communications: quarterly reports, annual reports, events, emails, print, web and social. The Chamber was missing a big piece of their puzzle.
They were too busy focusing on the what and not enough on the why.
So, we put together a content strategy focusing more on why. We loosend the Chamber speak, and began to start talking to people instead of at people. Next, working with the Chamber's marketing department, we developed a content calender and slowly began to roll the new strategy out. They're currently developing a new website, and the new language will be front and center.

Hey, Nice To Meet You
My name is Patrick Rhyne, and for more than 20 years I've been working for ad agencies as a Creative Director/Copywriter. I've created campaigns for brands ranging from Terminix and Nissan/Infiniti to South Carolina Federal Credit Union and Hyundai.
I started rhyne+co as a way to help smaller businesses. They may not be small in size, but many companies can't afford big agency services. This is where I come in. I want to be your Marketing Department. I can work within your budget, put a plan together and get started.
I look forward to hearing from you.
